Shredding Most Frequent Asked Questions
Is a Certificate of Destruction issued?
Yes. Following each shred job, a Certificate of Destruction is provided, which certifies the date and type of document shredding that took place.
Why does your business offer both on-site and off-site document shredding?
Each of these solutions serves a unique purpose. Both options, however, follow the same level of expertise and feature the same level of security. On-site shredding is ideal for customers who wish to watch the shred process or have a significant volume of information to shred. Off-site shredding may be preferred by some customers who have little to shred or simply prefer the idea of drop-off shredding services. In both cases, you can rest assured your information will be considered obsolete for good.
Why can’t I shred in-house? What are the risks?
- Who in your company will be responsible for shredding?
- Who will ensure compliant processes are met internally?
- What are the equipment and maintenance fees?
- What is the employee cost of shredding?
- How can you guarantee that employees aren’t accessing certain confidential records within your organization?

What happens to my documents after they have been shredded?
Shredding is an environmentally responsible method of document disposal. All paper particles are collected and sent to paper mills for recycling purposes. Did you know that recycling one tonne of paper saves approximately 17 mature trees, 6,900 gallons (US) of water, two barrels of oil, and 4.1-megawatt hours of electricity? (six month’s worth of energy consumption for the average home).
What if my shredding requirements change?
Doc Delete will work with you to establish a unique shred program that’s tailored to your needs. Service can be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. At the end of the day, it depends on how much paper you produce and no longer need. If at any time during your contract you decide that you need to change your frequency, Doc Delete is more than happy to make such changes by providing fewer or additional collection containers and making the necessary changes to your shredding schedule.
